Paddy Dunne and John Keane, worthy winners of Club Fourball.

Impressive victory by Paddy Dunne and John Keane

The eagerly anticipated final of the Club Fourball, generously sponsored by Oliver Conroy Pallets, took place on Thursday, 10th October. Weather conditions had postponed this match several times, but it was eventually played in pristine conditions. The pairing of Pat Donohoe and Aidan Tomkins squared off against Paddy Dunne and John Keane in a thrilling contest.

In the end, the final was keenly contested with both sides delivering outstanding performances. After a tense and closely fought match, Paddy Dunne and John Keane emerged victorious, winning on the 18th hole with a 5-foot putt by Dunne. Congratulations to both winners and runners-up for their outstanding efforts.

Mullingar Golf Club would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to all our kind and generous sponsors, in particular Oliver Conroy Pallets, and to all the participants who made this competition a resounding success.

Gents Branch - Sunday Competition

The final round of the Christmas Hampers, once again very generously sponsored by Mileage Tyres, was played last weekend, with the top 64 players from round 1 paired off for the team event. Such is the popularity of this event that 127 played last weekend, and 132 players again took to the fairways on Sunday. With several individual prizes also up for grabs, everyone had a chance to win. Unlike the previous weekend when the weather was mixed, conditions for round 2 were excellent, although Saturday was a little warmer and brighter compared to Sunday.

With the course looking absolutely fantastic, a big score was needed to secure a prize. The top 8 scores from last weekend included Scott Hogan with a tremendous 43 points, Sean Whelehan with 41, and Willie Geraghty, Donagh McTiernan, and Liam Lynam with 40. Pat Murtagh, John Shaw, and Niall Kennedy all finished with 39 points. These top 8 were paired respectively with Brian Curran (30), Andrew Flynn and Michael Gunning (both 31), Barry Waters (32), Martin Little (31), Pat McCartan, Alan Warde, and Conor Lynch (all 32 points).

After some excellent golf, as well as some highs and lows, the winners for the team and individual hamper competitions were as follows:

Individuals: Pat Murtagh (17) successfully defended his title from last year with a total score of 78 points.

Gross Winner: David Tynan (01) on 69 points. Runner-up: JP Hearnes (14) with 77 points. Third place: Paddy Gavin (21) with 75 points.

Senior Winner: Brian Conlon (20) on 75 points. Junior Winner: Kylan Heffernan (06) with 78 points.
