Uisce Éireann working on burst watermain at Castletown Geoghegan
Uisce Éireann is working to restore water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers in Castletown Geoghegan, following a burst watermain.
The areas affected include Castletown Geoghegan, Ballinagore, Kilbeggan, Horseleap and the surrounding areas.
Service crews are carrying out the required repair works, and every effort is being made to complete this work as quickly as possible.
Works are scheduled to take place until 9pm today.
Following repairs, it typically takes three to four hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas as the water refills the network and the local reservoir, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.
In a statement, Uisce Éireann said: “We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and we regret the inconvenience caused.
“We would like to thank customers for their patience while we work on repairs and restore the water supply as quickly as possible.
“Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.”
Updates are available on X (formerly Twitter) @IWCare and via the customer care helpline, open 24/7 on 1800 278 278.
Uisce Éireann has also launched a free text service, providing real-time updates for local issues. Customers can sign up with their Eircode and mobile number on the dedicated Water Service Updates page.
