Cycle path plan for Dublin Road
Proposed works between the Dublin Bridge and Marlinstown will provide footpaths and a cycle path, a meeting of Mullingar Kinnegad Municipal District has heard.
Following Cllr Mick Dollard’s request for detail on works for 2025, it was revealed that the Active Travel team will meet elected members in-committee near the end of the year to consult on the preliminary proposal prior to commencing the Part 8 process.
“If planning consent is received, the council will have to procure a consultant to carry out the detailed design for the project in line with the planning consent and the NTA’s design requirements,” read the council response.
“Construction of the project is anticipated to commence in Q4 2025 at the earliest, subject to NTA approval and funding.
“The proposed works will provide footpaths and a cycleway between the roundabout at the Ardmore Road and the Dublin Bridge.”
