Pauline Nally of Midlands Science getting ready for the secret science of golf, a unique science week event taking place in Esker Hills this November.

Special Midlands Science Festival event explores secret to golf

Midlands Science Festival special event in Esker Hills which will explore how science can improve your golf game.

This event, which takes place on November 11 at 8pm, includes leading sports psychologist and keen golfer Dr Eoghan McNeill of TUS. He has work nationally and in peer reviewed research on the psychological factors that are at play every time you pick up the golf club bag.

It’s not just a physical game, like a lot of things, it’s also psychological. This event will feature science communicator and keen golfer Dr Barry Fitzgerald in conversation with Dr Eoghan McNeill.

You’ll be sure to come away with some psychological tips and tricks that will help you to improve your game.

According to numerous golf psychology studies, the mind affects a golfer's performance.

It's the art of harnessing your mental strength to cope with the game's pressures and excel under those pressures.

Golfers who embrace golf psychology don't just rely on their physical skills; they also tap into their mental abilities to stay focused, confident, and resilient throughout a round of golf.

Golf isn't just about mastering your swing; it's also about mastering your mind and recognizing your abilities and limitations.

Pauline Nally of Midlands Science, also a keen golfer said: “Golf is a great game where precision meets patience, the mental game holds equal importance to your swing mechanics.

"Beyond the physical aspects, golf psychology encompasses a range of mental attributes that can elevate your game.”

The event is free of charge but places must be booked in advance on www.midlandsscience.ie and the event is part of Science Week.

It is supported by Research Ireland under the Discover Programme.
