Coláiste Mhuire and Loreto get the disco fever!

Disco fever hit Coláiste Mhuire and Loreto College Mullingar for three nights recently. TY students at the two schools combined to stage the musical ‘Disco Inferno’, which is a jukebox musical set in 1976 in London.

They had great fun and put on great performances as they told the story of Jack (Eoghan Daly) and his ‘burning’ desire to become famous.

With his girlfriend Jane (Clodagh Egan) and his friends Tom (Tom Fay), Maggie (Aoibh Doran) and Terry (Seán Byrne), Jack finds his path on the music scene with Duke (Niall Brady), Heathcliffe (Pádraig Monaghan) and Kathy (Grace Doyle).

A pact with Lady Marmalade (Eva Jackson) led him to the life he always wanted – but it wasn’t necessarily all that he imagined it would be.

Still, there were magic nights out for the audiences at the Coláiste Mhuire gym last week as the students took them back to the songs and fashions of the ‘70s.

Coláiste Mhuire posted on social media after the last show: “And that’s a wrap! Thank you to everyone who came to Disco Inferno.

“It has been such a great experience for everyone involved and we are so proud of all of the boys and girls for their work since we cast the show on 6 September.

“What a six weeks we’ve all had.”
