This week at the arts centre: Voyage of Uisneach; Mozart by Candlelight; a Chance to Shine
The Voyage of Uisneach, Presented by Emerald Lakes TTC Group
Thursday November 7 and Friday November 8, 8pm, Mullingar Arts Centre
This theatrical display of Irish music, song and dance is a Westmeath based production, created and directed by Rochfortbridge man Kevin Lyster.
The Voyage of Uisneach is a story combining the magical and ancient ritual history of Bealtaine Fires at the Hill of Uisneach and linking it to the Great Famine that ravaged our nation.
The solidarity, strength and resilience of the Irish people, with deep rooted values and traditions, ensured that our history, our culture and our people have humanity, empathy and self-belief that have made Ireland the country it is today.
This production is about the voyage our ancestors had to take during the famine, from the ancient site of Uisneach to the shores of America.
It is a perfect show for all the family to enjoy. Book now online or call the Box Office on 044 934 7777 to reserve your seats.
Magical Mozart by Candlelight, Presented by TP Europe Ltd
Saturday November 9, 8pm, Mullingar Arts Centre
From the producers of A Viennese Strauss Gala comes Magical Mozart By Candlelight – a fully costumed show that immerses an audience in the music and the classical baroque world of one of the world’s greatest romantic composers – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The Austrian composer created a string of operas, concertos, symphonies and sonatas that profoundly shaped classical music.
With beautiful settings, costumes, lighting, and of course candles, the European Baroque Ensemble and world class opera singers transport you to a sumptuous past.
Expect a full programme of classical music and song including excerpts from the most memorable of Mozart’s operas, such as The Magic Flute, The Marriage of Figaro, Cosi Fan Tutte and many more.
Mozart’s most popular operas are all beautifully sung by world-class soloists who, together with the ensemble, perform some of his most memorable pieces of music, including Symphony no. 40, Lacrimosa (Requiem D minor) and Eine Kleine Nacht Musik. A magical evening of classic Mozart Masterpieces!
