Open day for Mullingar Cathedral Choristers
Boys from parishes across the Diocese of Meath interested in joining the Cathedral Choristers (boys choir) are invited to an open day at 3pm on Saturday November 16. It is open to any boy in or above third class of primary school who would like to learn more about being a chorister at Mullingar Cathedral. No previous experience singing or knowledge of an instrument is required, only an interest in singing.
Boys with a basic ability to sing as well as more experienced boys are encouraged to explore this chance to develop their voices and to nurture a life-long skill, make friendships, build confidence, and represent their community.
As part of the event, boys will spend the afternoon doing group and individual singing with the director, and tour Mullingar Cathedral, including the museum and organ loft.
Parents are welcome to join for tea and coffee and to learn more about the opportunities being with the choristers offers, and to meet the team who take care of them at the Cathedral.
Attendance and application to join the choristers is free of charge.
The choristers sing at the Cathedral 12.30 Sunday Mass in the autumn and at the 11am one from January, as well as other events throughout the year.
New members will have the opportunity to sing at Christmas Mass if they wish.
Trips and social activities take place throughout the year.
