Photography event to celebrate ancient forest at Ardan Wood

The Native Woodland Trust organised “a day filled learning and exploring our beloved Ardan Wood in Westmeath” with the aim of helping people connect with each other and their local woodlands like never before

The trust worked with Creative Ireland and had the expert guidance of photographer Tina Claffey, to bring together eight budding nature photographers for the day.

The idea was “to celebrate the ancient woodland and the wonderful fungi on display this time of year, and to celebrate our shared love for the environment expressed through the lens of photography.

“Art and nature are a match made in heaven and this brings an end to a project funded by Creative Ireland that used interpretive printmaking with Hilary Kinahan last month – an equally wonderful celebration of all things native woodland.

“We are thankful to both of our expert artists and to all those who attended the events.”

You can find out more about the Native Woodland Trust and keep up with their activities by signing up for their quarterly magazine on their website. “We would really appreciate your support; it’s just €35 a year to help us on our mission to protect, expand, rehabilitate and share the majesty of Ireland’s remaining native woodlands.”
