Chart-topper Johnny has his eyes set on Late Late Toy Show
Westmeath's latest chart-topping singer, little Johnny Joyce, has his heart set on appearing on this year’s Late Late Toy Show.
Eight-year-old Johnny became one of Ireland’s youngest ever chart-toppers on Monday when his new charity Christmas single, Santa Grant A Wish, reached the top of the Irish iTunes charts, based on pre-release sales alone. He surpassed musical stars such as Bruno Mars and his heroes, The Wolfe Tones, with whom he performed at The Lakeland Sessions in Mullingar during the summer.
Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner, Johnny’s father Christy said that before Johnny’s single reached the top of the iTunes charts, he had contacted RTÉ to see if Johnny could perform at this year’s Late Late Toy Show, but had yet to receive a response.
Christy is hopeful that Johnny’s new chart-topping status might open the door for him.
All funds raised from the single are going to the children’s hospital in Crumlin.
