St Loman’s enjoys return to Scór na nÓg
Last weekend was one to remember for St Loman’s, Mullingar on and off the pitch as the club senior team advanced to the next round of the Leinster Club Championship and young members participated in the semi-finals of Scór na nÓg in Coole on Friday night.
The club had entries in Figure Dancing, Recitation, Novelty Act and Instrumental Music with entries in Figure Dancing and Instrumental Music from the Ladies club.
First up on the night were the Figure Dancing teams represented by Ellen Gallagher, Aisling McCormack, Molly Rose Doyle, Jade Fitzsimons, Emily Graham, Cara Murphy, Rachel Walsh and Maisie Daly, while the ladies club were represented by Ella Long, Annabel Scally, Ellie Donlon, Grace Windsor, Mary Kate Davitt, Sarah O’Connell, Ellen and Jennifer Murphy. Both teams performed excellently with the men's club's figure dancing team getting the nod from the judges on the night to progress to the county final. The ladies team certainly won the hearts of the audience with their performance.
Next on stage was Eoin McKenna in the Recitation competition. Eoin commanded the stage with his performance and his confident recital of 'The Day I Scored The Winning Goal' caught the judges' eyes and secured him a place in the County Final.
Grace Farry, Eve Nugent and Faye Ferris displayed their excellent acting skills with a great comedic performance in the Novelty Act competition.
The club's final entries on the night were its two top class Instrumental Music teams. The ladies team were first on stage and set the tone for an excellent competition. Ellen Murphy, Mary Kate Murphy and Ella Long captured the audience with their wonderful tunes and just missed out on qualifying for the County Final. MJ Long, Michael Long, Max Long and Jamie McDonnell wrapped up this competition with their melodic and energetic performance secured another place in the County Final for the Club.
The County Final is in The Downs this Sunday afternoon at 2pm.
