An evening exploring swifts, those amazing aerial acrobats
Where is one of the best places to see swifts in Ireland? How fast and how far do they fly? What do their eggs and natural nests look like?
Those are among the questions that will be answered at a Midlands Science Festival event in Mullingar Library on Thursday next, November 14, at 6pm.
The event is presented by the National Museum of Ireland with Midlands Science.
Geraldine Breen will provide an engaging talk and will welcome swift beginners and enthusiasts as she covers an introduction to the species and how we can help them.
She will also provide a look behind the scenes at the swift collections at by the National Museum of Ireland.
The talk will be preceded by an exhibition of photos by wildlife photographer Conor Henry and presentation of swift drawing prizes to local primary schools and conversation gardening prizes to local community groups.
