Santa Truck coming to Milltownpass this Christmas

Fundraiser for LauraLynn - Ireland's Children's Hospice

The Santa Truck is coming to Milltownpass on December 6 and the event is a fundraiser for the LauraLynn - Ireland's Children's Hospice.

Organised by Milltownpass Tidy Towns, the truck will arrive at Milltownpass Community Centre at 6pm that Friday.

The Tidy Towns committee are planning festivities to make the evening extra special for families before they head home to watch the Late Late Toy Show that evening.

In exchange for a donation, attendees will have the opportunity to visit Santa, Mrs Claus, and the Elves in the grotto in the truck itself.

There will be a Jingle Bells disco for the kiddies, a raffle with lots of great prizes and Late Late Toy Show Treat Boxes – proceeds going to LauraLynn.

LauraLynn is Ireland’s only children’s hospice and provides specialised palliative care and support for children with life-limiting conditions and their families, both at its hospice facility and through community care programmes across Ireland.

The Santa Truck will enter Milltownpass from the west of the village and will stop at the community centre, where Tidy Towns volunteers will be stewarding the waiting queues.

Neurodivergent children and those with special needs will be catered for as a priority. They will be invited to wait in the quiet environment of the community centre for the Santa Truck to arrive and will be welcomed on the truck to visit Santa first.

Event organiser Ronan Lynskey said: “It’s been three years since we initially put the call in to Noal (the owner of the Santa Truck) to see if he’d be willing to bring it to Milltownpass. We’re absolutely delighted to have secured the truck this year, as one of only two stops in County Westmeath.

“Our volunteers are working hard to make this a special Christmas event to raise money for a great cause and we hope that people come out and support it.”
