Weather warning issued for Westmeath and 22 other counties
Met Éireann has issued a status Yellow fog warning for Westmeath and most of the rest of country for this evening.
Motorists have been warned about hazardous driving conditions and poor visibility in counties Westmeath, Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Cork, Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Leitrim, Laois, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford, and Wicklow.
The warning for "widespread fog and mist" comes into effect from 6pm this evening, Tuesday, and expires at 10am tomorrow morning.
Generally, mist and fog will gradually clear from most areas during the course of this morning. A dry day with spells of sunshine developing, but staying cloudier further west, with fog lingering across parts of the midlands. Highest temperatures of 7 to 12 degrees in a light variable breeze, coolest inland where that fog will be more stubborn to clear.
Tonight will be calm and foggy once again, especially across the south midlands. Dry, apart from the odd spot of drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees generally with perhaps a touch frost where skies remain clearer; less chilly across west and northwest counties with lows of 6 to 9 degrees.
Tomorrow
Wednesday will see overnight mist and fog clearing with mostly cloudy skies for the day - some sunny spells in parts. While there will be a good deal of dry weather, it will be damp in places with patches of mist and drizzle, especially affecting northwest areas. Highest temperatures 9 to 13 degrees in light variable mainly northwest breezes.
