We can ‘rewild’ our minds, says Magan

Manchán Magan charmed a large audience at St Patrick’s Hall in Delvin on Saturday week last with his talk, Rewilding the Mind, which featured a blend of storytelling, cultural insight, and environmental passion.

Manchán invited listeners to explore the concept of rewilding, not only as a physical practice, but as a mental and spiritual journey. He shared how reconnecting with the natural world and traditions that could offer ways to heal both the earth and ourselves.

In his 70-minute talk, Manchán talked about his ideas of the importance of our connection to nature through language, particularly the Irish language. He described how certain Irish words reflect relationships with multiple concepts that go beyond simple translation.

By engaging with these layers of meaning, Magan argued, we can start to “rewild” our minds, moving away from manufactured thinking and toward a broader and more unified view of life.
