Late Pauline Allen, long-time committee member at Tuar Ard

Moate community pay extensive tribute to late Pauline Allen

Moate has been left in mourning after the passing of Pauline Allen, a long-time of the Tuar Ard committee.

Locals remember Pauline for her heavy involvement in Tuar Ard community hall, and her weekly presence at bingo.

"All of us in Moate Community Centre and Tuar Ard are shocked and numbed by the sudden passing of our dear friend Pauline Allen," wrote Tuar Ard.

"She was a huge presence in our lives and her outgoing, cheerful and friendly disposition endeared her to everyone she met. She loved Moate and it's people.

"She was proud of the place and felt a great sense of belonging and companionship within this community. The time she gave to the Community Hall and Tuar Ard is deeply appreciated."

She will be sadly missed by her son Kenneth and his partner Helen, grandchildren James and Grace, brothers-in-law Billy, Michael and Tony, sisters-in-law Ethna, Peggy and Rose, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Pauline was predeceased by her husband Jim, and her parents Matthew and Grace.

The Tuar Ard committee said: "We are all aware that since Jim’s passing five years ago a dark cloud descended over her life. Even with the outstanding and consistent help of friends who encouraged and supported her in every way, she was unable to cast off that cloud.

"It was difficult at times to reconcile her pleasant outward disposition with the pain and sadness beneath. Her loneliness for Jim was unrelenting and her deep wish was to be with him. We pray that her wish is now fulfilled and that together they are enjoying the fullness of peace and happiness in God’s presence."

Pauline is reposing at Flynn’s Funeral Home Moate today, Thursday, November 21, from 4.30pm until 6.40pm. Funeral prayers will take place at 7pm in St Patrick’s Church, Moate.

Funeral Mass will take place tomorrow, Friday, November 22, at 12 noon, with burial afterwards in Kilcurley Cemetery, Tubber.
