Dog poop bins for greenways

Dog walkers in Mullingar can soon expect more convenience and cleaner pedestrian routes, as two new dog litter bins are to be installed within the next two weeks.

At the November meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad, officials confirmed to the mayor, Cllr Ken Glynn, in response to a question he tabled that the new bins will be placed at the access points at Dublin Bridge and Newbrook on the Old Rail Trail and Royal Canal Greenways.

The official written response stated that these initial installations were part of a trial to assess effectiveness. “We are installing two, just to see how they operate, and we certainly can install more, if they work well,” district engineer Pat Kavanagh told Cllr Glynn.
