Golfers can keep game sharp with new indoor simulator room

Mullingar Golf Club notes

Mullingar Golf Club reached an exciting milestone on Saturday November 17, with the official launch of its new Indoor Simulator Room, a cutting-edge facility that promises to transform the golfing experience for members and visitors alike.

Powered by the latest Trackman iO technology, the room provides the ultimate indoor golf experience, ensuring that, rain or shine, golfers can keep their game sharp all year round.

A special thank you goes to Pat and Paula Davitt for their tremendous support in bringing this ambitious project to life. Their commitment to the club has been instrumental in making this state-of-the-art addition a reality.

The launch event drew a fantastic crowd, many of whom had the chance to test the simulator first-hand. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The simulator is set to be a game-changer for Mullingar Golf Club, offering players the opportunity to fine-tune their swings and even enjoy virtual rounds on some of the world’s top courses.

This new facility will be a huge asset to the club, especially as a tool for team practice heading into next season. It will also be a valuable resource during the winter months and on rainy days.

The Indoor Simulator Room is part of the club’s ongoing efforts to enhance its facilities, highlighting its commitment to providing members and visitors with a top-notch golfing experience.

The simulator will officially open for bookings in the next two weeks, and anticipation is already building. Winter golf just got a whole lot better at Mullingar Golf Club.

For further updates on bookings and other developments, keep an eye on the club’s announcements.

Gents Branch Notes

Sunday Competitions

Last Sunday’s competition, scheduled for November 24, had to be cancelled due to heavy overnight rain, leaving the course unplayable.

However, the previous Sunday, November 17, saw 101 men compete over 15 holes for Christmas turkeys in mild conditions. Yellow tees were in play, and the course, thanks to the work of David Perdisatt and his team, was in excellent condition. Players enjoyed the pace of the greens following recent hollow-tining and sanding work.

The results for the Sunday turkey shoot on November 17 were as follows:

Category 1 (0-10):

Winner: Adam Smith (-4) – 34 pts

Runner-up: Derek Plunkett (6) – 33 pts

Category 2 (11-16):

Winner: Thomas Keating (15) – 35 pts

Runner-up: Niall Kennedy (11) – 34 pts

Category 3 (17+):

Winner: Dermot Maloney (18) – 35 pts

Runner-up: Brian Conlon (17) – 35 pts

Congratulations to all the winners! Special mention goes to Adam Smith for his outstanding play. After starting on the 10th and playing the 1st 3 holes: bogey – par – bogie, Adam then proceeded to shoot 1 eagle, 7 birdies and 3 more pars, for 7 under gross. That was 9 under for 12 consecutive holes! Hats off to ‘Awesome’ Adam, as they might say Stateside.

Thanks to the Men’s Branch for kindly sponsoring the day.

Senior Men

Due to rain, senior golf scheduled for Tuesday, November 20, was cancelled.

After two of three rounds, the top 10 in the Senior Men’s competition are as follows:

Eugene Dunne – 22 + 18 = 40 pts

John Smyth – 16 + 23 = 39 pts
