'Free Enoch Burke' vote found

One voter from Longford Westmeath used their ballot paper to send a very definite message to the government.

Instead of actually voting, they instead wrote in defiant bold capitals, "Free Enoch Burke", in support of the Wilson's Hospital School teacher currently in jail for contempt of court in a case that had as its genesis, a row over the use of a student's preferred pronoun.

There was no indication as to the polling station from which the ballot originated.
