Finest pedigree Angus cattle on show and sale

The Irish Angus Cattle Society host one of the prestigious events in the calendar when ‘Ireland’s Top Pedigree Angus Elite Sale’ takes place on December 7 at Carrick-on-Shannon.

The show, starting at 9am and the sale, starting at noon, showcase the finest pedigree Angus cattle, renowned for their superior genetics, quality, and performance traits.

The sale is also a platform for breeders to exchange knowledge about the latest advances in cattle genetics and husbandry. It underscores Ireland’s commitment to excellence in livestock breeding and contributes to the reputation of Irish cattle on the international stage, said a spokesperson for the Irish Angus Cattle Society.

All bull entries are genotyped export and semen tested, sire verified, exhibitor bred, myostatin tested and pre-sale inspected. All heifer entries are genotyped export tested, sire verified, exhibitor bred, myostatin tested and pre-sale inspected.

Forty-eight bulls and 45 heifers will be offered for this sale.

Most of the cattle entered have been show winners throughout the year.

Registration for the New Traces System is required. It enables the export of animals on the day of sale – contact DAERA regional offices or visit daera-ni.gov.uk/contacts/daera-direct-regional-offices (note; register as a bovine establishment and importer).

Elite Catalogue

The catalogue for an impressive line-up of bulls and heifers will be available on the Irish Angus Cattle Society website at irishangus.ie, and by contacting the office: 071 96 20253.

The society are also making a number of premiums available to the purchasers of bulls and heifers as all purchasers of animals at €3000 or over will go into a draw for two €400 premiums, one for bull buyers and one for heifer buyers.

Another two further €200 voucher premiums for the purchasers of the top price bull and top price heifer are sponsored by Coneyisland Genetics (Brendan Regan).

Online bidding

This sale at Carrick-on-Shannon will commence at noon sharp on Saturday December 7. Online bidding is available through LSL and those wishing to register are asked to contact Midland and Western on 086 3883112 for approval.
