Local firms hold charity football tournament

The heavy rain on Friday didn't stop local firms TEG, Trend and Writech from holding their annual charity five-a-side football tournament at Mullingar Athletic's home ground in Gainstown.

In total eight teams took part and the chosen charity this year was Movember.

Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner, one of the organisers of this year's instalment, Paddy Kelly from TEG, thanked everyone who played their part in making the tournament a success.

"Big thanks to Mullingar Athletic and to Liam for being so helpful throughout the whole process. A big thank you to Stephen Riggs in Writech for helping organise his teams and to Teresa and Brendan in Trend for helping organise theirs. A big thank you to our own company, TEG, for their support, sponsoring the tea and hut, and for supplying drinks for the games as well. It's lashing rain here today, but it's for a great cause and we've had a great turnout. Thanks also to Trend for sponsoring the winners' trophy and medals. Finally, a big thank you to every single person who came out and took part in this great event."
