Athlone mourns passing of prominent local businessman

The death has occurred of a pivotal figure in the business community of Athlone's westside.

Sean Dunning, The Elms, Athlone, and Dunning's Butchers, Connaught Street, Athlone, passed away on December 4, peacefully surrounded by his family, in the tender care of the staff of Ferbane Nursing Home.

He was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Kathleen, brother Paddy, nephews Sean Cleary, Noel and Davy Dunning.

Sean is sadly missed by his loving wife Breda, brothers Tommy, Bernie, and Michael, sisters Mary Dunne, Anne Derwin, Helen Fox and Kathleen Cleary, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends.

He is reposing at his sister Mary Dunne’s residence in Carrickobrien (N37 E4X2) on Friday from 2pm to 7pm, with Mass of the resurrection on Saturday at 10.30am in St. Mary’s Church, followed by burial in Coosan Cemetery.
