Westmeath farmers the only candidates for ICSA president

The election to determine who will serve as ICSA president for the next two years is under way, and the two candidates in contention are from Westmeath.

The outcome will be decided on Wednesday, December 18, when the election takes place.

All elected members of the ICSA the national executive, comprising representatives from across the country, are eligible to vote.

The candidates

Dan Lynam is a suckler, sheep, and tillage farmer from Castletown Geoghegan. He is the current chair of Westmeath ICSA and has previously served as ICSA national treasurer.

Sean McNamara is a sheep, beef, and suckler farmer from Lismacaffrey. He currently holds the position of ICSA president and is hoping to serve a second term.

The election is at the Midlands Park Hotel in Portlaoise, and proceedings begin at 7pm.

Each candidate will make a presentation to the national executive which will be followed by a Q&A session with the candidates.

The result of the vote is expected at 9pm.
