Christmas Tree Thanks

The members of the Mullingar Enhancement Group and Mullingar Chamber have expressed their thanks to all those who contributed to the efforts to have the town brightened up with festive lighting and the new trees.

They met at the Market Square last week to make sure the message got out to the public in Mullingar.

Speaking on behalf of himself and his colleagues on the Mullingar Enhancement Group, John Cochrane said to the Westmeath Examiner: "I’d like to thank all the traders in Mullingar for their fantastic support this year once again with the Christmas lights. A big thank-you to Westmeath County Council, who were very supportive in all the work, putting up the new trees and with storage – they have been very cooperative and great at helping in every way with this year’s trees.

"We also thank the National Science Park for the sponsorship of the two new Christmas trees in the centre of the town, which are spectacular; also the panto characters from Mullingar Arts Centre, who were at the switch-on of the lights event, and Midlands 103 radio, who were also present for that."

Along with John on Mullingar Enhancement Group are Cllr Bill Collentine, and local businessman Nicky Shaw.
