Another Orange warning issued for Westmeath tonight

Met Éireann has issued another orange warning for tonight (Thursday).

The warning, for low temperature and ice, covers 13 counties, including Westmeath. The coldest temperature in the country was recorded at Mullingar weather station during the night (-7.5c).

Met Éireann is warning that tonight will be extremely cold with widespread severe frost and ice, along with lying snow in some areas. Patches of freezing fog also.

It says this could result in dangerous travelling conditions on roads and underfoot, travel disruption and delays, animal welfare issues and poor visibility.

The 13 counties affected are: Carlow, Cavan, Galway, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Tipperary, and Westmeath

The warning covers from 7pm tonight, Thursday, to 8am, Friday.
