The Coláiste Mhuire contingent at the BT Young Scientist competition.

Mullingar school has highest number of midlands entries at BT Young Scientist Exhibition 2025

The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition kicked off at the RDS in Dublin yesterday, with Mullingar's Coláiste Mhuire leading the way for schools in the midlands.

The school has ten projects in year’s competition, making it the largest contingent from any school in the region. In a statement issued today, the school said that it is "incredibly proud to have 10 projects qualifying for this year’s competition—a record achievement for the school and a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students and teachers".

"This is the largest number of competing projects from any other school in the midlands. The projects span a variety of disciplines, showcasing innovative solutions and fresh perspectives on some of today’s most pressing challenges, ranging from health care to virtual reality.

"With huge support from the local community and enterprises, the students are ready for the judging to begin today, having poured countless hours into their research and development.

"Parents, guardians, students and the general public are welcome to visit any of the 10 Coláiste Mhuire Project Stands at the exhibition and see first hand the talent and creativity found within the nurturing STEM talent of the students at Coláiste Mhuire."
