Council and NTA invite public in to hear details of Active Travel
The public will have a chance at a public information session on Monday January 13 to find out details of what the Active Travel scheme are to mean for Mullingar.
The event is being hosted jointly by Westmeath County Council and the National Transport Authority (NTA) and it is to focus primarily on the initial design for the Dublin Road Active Travel Scheme, including sections of Ardmore Road and Delvin Road in Mullingar.
The initial design will be on display and staff and designers will be available to answer queries on the day. The initial design will remain available to view and feedback comments will be accepted until close of business on January 17 next.
The NTA defines Active Travel as involving “travelling with a purpose, using your own energy via sustainable means”.
“It includes walking, wheeling, and cycling or the use of self-powered, non-motorised scooters as part of a purposeful journey. For example, walking to school and cycling to work are both considered forms of Active Travel,” the NTA’s website states.
Open to all – local residents, other members of the public and interested parties – the session is to take place at Áras an Chontae (County Buildings), Mullingar between 3pm and 8pm on January 13.
