Gardai recover cocaine worth over €70,000 in Westmeath search

Gardai in Westmeath have announced a significant drugs seizure in the north of the county yesterday (Wednesday) evening.

Officers from the Westmeath Divisional Drugs Unit, under Operation Tara, carried searched a property in Delvin, where they recovered a large quantity of cocaine.

While the drugs have yet to be forensically analysed, their street value is thought to be in excess of €70,000.

Gardai said this afternoon that a man in his 40s had been arrested and was currently being held in custody in connection with the seizure.
