Shoot ‘N’ Stars invite you to enter team for annual quiz
Shoot ‘N’ Stars Special Olympics Club are holding their annual table quiz this week, Thursday January 23, in the Annebrook House Hotel, and they are asking local people to put together teams and to take part.
Bernie Corroon from Shoot ‘N’ Stars said: “Your support means so much to our club. We are in existence since 1997 providing a social and spotting opportunities to 70-plus athletes in varying sports, from aquatics and basketball to bocce and football.”
Training is provided by volunteer coaches led by Nuala Lawlor and the athletes are encouraged to fulfil their potential in whichever sport they choose and at their level.
Special Olympics runs to a four-year programme, progressing each year from area to regional, the all-Ireland games and world games, and that takes commitment from athletes, families and volunteers.
Bernie added: “The quiz is our main fundraising function and over the years it has been generously supported by the people of Westmeath and other sport clubs.
“Pàdraig Flynn is our Fear an Tì – he gives his time generously each year for our fundraising quiz – so come on in to the Annebrook Hotel, who are generously providing the venue and food on the 23rd.”
