Dwarfs dig up streets, cause traffic congestion in Kells!

Dress up the kids young and old, order the popcorn, flex your vocal chords and book your seats early for another action-packed, fun-filled ride with the longest running pantomime in the county.

It is, of course, the Kells Musical and Dramatic Society’s 48th show, ‘Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs’.

Written and directed by John Grant, the show contains two original songs he has written – ‘Lonely tonight’ and ‘Think yourself Happy’.

Snow White’s story is a classic tale of good triumphing over evil, and it has everything – a talking mirror, a wicked stepmother, and a bunch of dwarfs whose names describe their personalities.

Snow White, with skin as white as snow and lips as red as a rose, has been charming hearts for generations, and this show, she is Ciara O’Neill, who lives in a castle with her evil and jealous stepmother the queen Blackheart (Barbara O’Neill), a witch.

Snow White falls in love with a prince from the neighbouring kingdom (Seamus Ennis) and they plan a future together.

But Queen Blackheart uses an enchanted mirror (Isabelle Costello) to tell her who is the most beautiful woman in the kingdom. When the mirror tells her it is ‘Snow White’, Blackheart has her step-daughter taken into the forest to be killed.

The huntsman charged with that task (Kellyanne Costello) takes pity on the girl and sets her free.

Wandering in the forest, Snow White comes across a little house where two sets of seven dwarfs live.

The adult dwarfs are, Doc (Bridget Glynn), Happy (Paige Luddy), Sneezy (Millie Ryan), Dopey (Danielle Wilders), Grumpy (Thomas Glynn), Sleepy (Nicola Ralph), and Bashful (Caoimhe Smith). The teen dwarfs are, Doc (Aliyah Bhoj), Happy (Lucy Jarrett), Sneezy (Eimear Dunne), Dopey (Holly Dardis), Grumpy (Lilly Nolan), Sleepy (Shannen Elliot Thompson), and Bashful (Isobelle Mulholland).

Quality comedy is promised, from wisecracking dame, Minnie Mildew (John Grant), the energetic castle butler Mr Fusspot (Stephen Stafford) and the madcap court jester Giggles (Louise Rogers).

No panto would be complete without a kind hearted fairy, and here it’s Flu (Alanagh Gavin), who manages to get through the show despite her symptoms.
