'Help support asylum seekers in Mullingar: volunteer today'

If you are passionate about making a difference in your community, there is an opportunity to lend a helping hand to the newly arrived individuals seeking International Protection in Ireland.

More than 200 men from war-torn countries in Africa and the Middle East are temporarily housed in tents at the former army barracks in Mullingar. Many of those have little or no English, and they need support.

Fáilte Isteach is calling on volunteers from the Mullingar region to help provide language support to these young men. No previous teaching experience is required, just a willingness to help and connect; induction training is provided for all new volunteers

Fáilte Isteach will, at the outset, provide assistance in setting up the language training sessions at the former barracks.

“This is a meaningful way to make a difference in the lives of those seeking safety and a fresh start,” said one of the organisers of the plan. “Together, we can create a warm and welcoming community for all.”
