Troy to make ministerial comeback

According to reports in the national media, Deputy Robert Troy is to make a return to the ministerial ranks.

The Fianna Fail man, who in 2022 resigned as Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment after the news website The Ditch revealed that he had made errors while declaring his property interests, has been offered a junior ministry in the Department of Finance.

If the reports are correct, the Longford Westmeath constituency will have three TDs with ministerial portfolios, as Deputy Kevin 'Boxer' Moran is set to once again be appointed as Minister of State for the OPW. Last week, Deputy Peter Burke was appointed as Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment.

Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner last week, Deputy Troy said that Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin was aware of his ministerial ambitions.
