Castle Varagh Hotel ‘continued to offer support’
Numerous people benefited from the kindness of staff at the Castle Varagh Hotel in Castlepollard as they navigated the challenges following Storm Éowyn.
Fortunately, the hotel was able to restore power and internet services by lunchtime on the Saturday after the big wind, allowing the team to work diligently to support those impacted by the storm.
They offered discounts on accommodation and meals, along with complimentary tea, coffee, and showers.
Patrick Reilly, general manager, said the hotel had opened one of the function rooms – the Garden Room – for those looking to use it as a workspace or for afterschool study. “Many local businesses turned to the hotel as a temporary base due to internet outages,” he said.
Patrick emphasised the hotel’s commitment to assisting the community during a critical time. He expressed concern that problems persist for many in areas such as Coole, Castletown Finea and parts of Oldcastle, and may continue into this week.
The hotel would continue to offer support to those affected “until everyone is back on their feet,” he added.
