Inny Shamrocks hold presentation evening
The Inny Shamrocks U14 footballers celebrated a first underage title for the combination side when they overcame Tubberclair to take the title last year and on Saturday evening, the players were honoured at a presentation evening in Tormey's pub, Bunbrosna.
Inny Shamrocks, a combination of Ballynacargy and Bunbrosna, have been working extremely hard at the development of underage players and it's great to see that dedication paying off. They overcame Tubberclair in the U14 final at Ballymore under the guidance of Tommy Keena, Ger Heduvan, Eoin Clarke and Gordon Coloe. Aidan Heduvan captained the side to victory over Tubberclair in the Div 4 championship final.
The U14 side received training tops ahead of the big game thanks to sponsorship from Eoin Clarke & Co Solicitors, and Heduvan Construction and financial support from both Ballynacargy and Bunbrosna GAA clubs. KC Sports delivered the tops in a timely manner as there was only a week between the semi-final and final. Special guest at Saturday's event was Westmeath GAA County Committee Chairman, Frank Mescall, who praised the work of the clubs and noted the importance of independent teams (amalgamations) in providing games for all players.
The Ballynacargy GAA Club said: "Congratulations to our Inny Shamrocks U14s who received their championship medals at a presentation in Tormey’s Pub, Bunbrosna on Saturday night. The players enjoyed a great night with food, music and dancing which was thoroughly deserved after a fantastic season.
"Thanks to County Committee Chairman Frank Mescall who presented the medals and spoke eloquently with some great words of advice for our fantastic young footballers. Thanks to DJ Tommy White who provided the music and to Hugh Tormey for the use of his premises. Thanks to everyone involved in organising a great night."
The Bunbrosna GAA Club penned the following post: "The victorious 2024 Inny Shamrocks under 14 team received their medals at a function in Tormey's, Bunbrosna on Saturday night. Congratulations to all of these you men and we wish them the very best for the 2025 season and beyond. A special word of thanks to Frank Mescall, chairman of Westmeath GAA who presented the medals and also to Hugh Tormey for the generous use of his premises once again."
