Strong turnout for Useless Project secondhand and vintage sale for Palestine

More than 350 people attended The Useless Project’s Secondhand and Vintage Clothing Sale at Kerrigan’s in Mullingar on Saturday, making it a resounding success, say the organisers.

They are Niamh and Fiona Greene and Tara Kelleher, and their event had eager shoppers lining up outside before the doors even opened, demonstrating the support and enthusiasm for the cause.

“Thanks to the generosity of the community, we raised an incredible €5,522, which will go directly to the Beit Lahia Development Association in Gaza,” said Tara.

The funds will be used to assemble and distribute food parcels to families facing extreme hunger. Currently, 91% of Gaza’s population faces acute food insecurity, and 1.1 million people are experiencing catastrophic levels of hunger. “This contribution will make a tangible difference in delivering much-needed aid.

“A heartfelt thank you to Kerrigan’s for providing the venue and being so accommodating, to everyone who donated clothing, and to local businesses who kindly lent us their rails. Special thanks to our incredible team of helpers on the day, including The Greenes and The Clearys, The Kellehers, Lorna Costello, and everyone who generously gave their time to make this event possible.

“This event not only provided a space for sustainable shopping but also opened up vital conversations about Palestine. “The turnout and support were truly inspiring, proving once again that community-driven action can make a real impact.”
