Mullingar prepares for 2025 Darkness Into Light walk

The Mullingar Darkness Into Light Walk is going ahead this year, on Saturday May 10 at 4.15am.

The event brings the community together in a display of hope and solidarity to support mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

The Mullingar walk starts at the St Loman’s GAA grounds and the route goes through Mullingar Town Park via Millmount Road, exits at the Annebrook House Hotel side, and loops back to the starting point.

It’s popular event, and a powerful way to get involved, support a crucial cause, and walk side by side with others in the community who may be facing similar struggles, creating a shared sense of strength and unity.

Mullingar and Athlone host official walks, making this a unique opportunity for the people of the area.

Extra car parking facilities will be available this year, and there are plans to kick off the event with something special – details will be announced in the coming weeks...

“We invite everyone to join us for this year’s Darkness Into Light walk,” said Aisling Coleman and John Bawle, who are leading the organising committee.

“This is more than just a walk – it’s to offer hope and provide support for those who need it most. Together, we turn Darkness Into Light.”

The event is supported by local businesses and that “reflects the incredible community spirit in Mullingar”.

Locals are invited to sign up for the Darkness Into Light walk or start their own fundraisers.
