Noasán playing first local headline show at Stables
Singer-songwriter Naosán Moore has had a busy few months and that’s just the way he likes it.
The London-based Mullingar native, who is playing his first local headlining show in The Stables on March 1, released his first single, All My Life, in November and followed it with ‘Not Alone’ released on January 17.
Naosán moved to London three years ago to pursue a career in music. Since then he has been honing his songwriting skills, as well as playing covers in pubs and doing a bit of music teaching to pay the bills.
Possessing a set of songs that he is eager to share with the world, Naosán says he is busy trying to get his name and his music “out there” and is excited about the show in The Stables.
“I am trying to get as much traction as I can and make people aware of them [his music and upcoming show] as much as I can.
“I have also got another song coming out the day before the gig, on February 28, so I am plugging away.”
Naosán describes his sound as indie pop and is happy to tip his hat to the singers and bands who he looks up to.
“I’m genuinely inspired by people like Niall Horan, James Blunt, James Bay, Gavin James, Darren Kennedy, that kind of style.”
Like many of the aforementioned performers, Naosán isn’t afraid to bare his emotions in his lyrics.
“For me, it’s all about human connection. All of my music is inspired by interactions with other people, whether relationships or friendships, self-reflection stuff.”
Writing songs since he was 16, Naosán feels that he has come into his own as a lyricist in recent years.
His work is helped by advances in recording technology which means that artists don’t have to spend a fortune on studio time to make high quality products. For performers trying to make a name for themselves, that has its advantages and disadvantages, he says.
“I have a friend over here who is a really good music producer and we were able to record all of our demos in the apartment. It is great that we were able to do that, to get the music out there, but it also means there’s a lot more music coming out.”
Looking ahead to next month’s gig where another young Mullingar singer-songwriter Jack Gaudet will be the support act, Naosán says that performing in front of family and friends after the progress he has made in recent years greatly excites him. Accompanying Naosán in The Stables will be well known local guitarist Paulie Martin.
“This will be first headlining gig in Mullingar and I am really looking forward to it. I moved to London about three and a half years ago and have been meaning to put on a show in Mullingar, but I suppose it is about finding the right time and building the round sound, as well as finding the right people to play with.”
