Young Mullingar singer songwriter releases debut recording

A young Mullingar singer songwriter has just his debut recording, and performed it on Friday night, February 14, at The Sound House in Dublin.

Kealan Geoghegan, who performs as ‘Kealan’ is 19-year-old singer from Mullingar, who is a first year student at BIMM music college.

“My music is heavily influenced by the 80s post punk and Goth scene and bands such as ‘The Cure’, all the way to the 2000s garage rock sound,” Kealan told the Westmeath Examiner.

“My debut song ‘Your Favourite Song’ is very close to me as it is dedicated to those who have lost loved ones due to alcoholism.”

The song was produced by Michael Cronin from the band ‘Cronin’.

In December last, Kealan played a gig at The Stables in Mullingar, supporting Cronin, and at The Sound House on Friday he was supporting ‘The Faithful Departed’, Cranberries tribute.

Kealan is a former student of Coláiste Mhuire, Mullingar.
