Cars and Coffee returns to Streete Parish park
The second annual “Cars and Coffee” morning will be hosted by Streete Vintage Club on Sunday, March 9, at Streete Parish Park, and is expected to attract motor enthusiasts from far and near.
Last year’s event attracted over 100 vehicles and many spectators. It raised over €2,500 which was divided between the Irish Road Traffic Victims Association and the local defibrillator appeal. This year, proceeds will go to the Irish Cancer Society in memory of Anne Creamer, a valued member of the community who served as receptionist at the Streete hall for 20 years. Sadly, Anne died of cancer late last year.
The Vintage Club holds a big rally on the last weekend of June each year and that will go ahead again this year. The “Cars and Coffee” event is a smaller affair, the Club’s PRO, Eamonn Campbell explained.
“Enthusiasts from all over the midlands will come with their cars, motorbikes etc. They will park up and have coffee and a bit of a catch-up. Some might hang around for an hour or two and others for the whole morning,” Eamonn remarked.
He pointed out that some of those who travel a distance will come in convoy. Groups might arrange at a meeting to come along and would travel together, he explained.
