Group of 20 attack Mullingar home

Gardaí are investigating an aggravated burglary in the Mullingar area that saw a large group attack a home last Thursday evening, February 27.

At around 8pm a group of around 20 people burgled a house in the Greenpark estate. They also caused a significant amount of damage to the property. According to Mullingar gardaí, no one was injured in the incident.

It is believed that the incident may be connected to an ongoing feud in the town.

Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner, a garda spokesperson said that investigations are ongoing.

He also urged members of the public who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the vicinity of Greenpark between 8pm and 9pm last Thursday to get in touch with Mullingar Station.

Gardaí are also investigating an assault in the Deravarra estate last Monday. A male resident was attacked by three masked men as he walked the estate. The victim was hospitalised with what have been described as “non-life threatening injuries”.

Again, gardaí are asking people who may have witnessed the attack to contact Mullingar Garda Station.

In Delvin, up to eight cars had their tires slashed over the weekend.

The vehicles were parked in the vicinity of the village main street. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in Delvin over the weekend to get in touch.
