Blackwater Park 5k run will honour memory of Collinstown native
The family of a north Westmeath native who passed away unexpectedly last year have organised a 5km charity run to honour his memory.
Patsy Fitzsimons was born and raised in Cummerstown, before moving into Collinstown village as a young boy. He attended St Finian's College and played hurling for his local team, Lough Lene Gaels.
Patsy married Collinstown native Bridie and had four children (Emma, Loran, Kevin and Colin). The couple moved to Navan and Patsy worked for Louth County Council up until his retirement in 2011.
Pasty spent his retirement gardening, running and travelling with Bridie, which he loved. An adoring grandfather to his six grandchildren, who adored him back, Patsy had a wide circle of friends and family in Westmeath and he enjoyed his visits home.
All of the funds raised at the 5km run, which takes place on April 12 in Blackwater Park in Navan (2pm), will go to the Irish Heart Foundation.
