Family Carers to host 5k fundraiser in Lough Boora Park

A 5k fundraising walk will take place in Lough Boora Park this weekend in aid of Family Carers Ireland.

The organisation is encouraging people in Offaly to Step Up and take part in the special 5k fundraising walk this Sunday, April 13.

“With just days to go, we’re urging everyone in Offaly to get involved,” said Eileen Aherne, National Fundraising Manager at Family Carers Ireland.

“Whether you join us at Lough Boora Park or walk in your own community, your support helps shine a light on the realities faced by family carers—and shows they are not alone.”

The charity is calling on the public to show up and show their support for the hundreds of thousands of people who care for loved ones at home - many without a break, financial support, or formal recognition.

Every day, Ireland’s 500,000 family carers provide unwavering support to loved ones - often without recognition or adequate support.

Now, it’s time for Offaly to step up for them. This nationwide event will raise vital funds and awareness to ensure that Family Carers Ireland can continue to be there for those who dedicate their lives to caring for others.
