More than 100 collectors and traders expected for Mullingar Diecast and Toy Show
More than 100 collectors and traders, and more than 1000 visitors, are expected for the Mullingar Diecast and Toy Show at the Mullingar Park Hotel on Sunday, April 13.
Those visitors will be able to enjoy displays of diecast models, vintage toys, collectibles, and more, and the day is supporting the Children’s Health Foundation.
Alan Meredith, one of the organisers, has arranged the charity link with the Children’s Health Foundation, which raises funds to support sick children and their families in Children’s Health Ireland hospitals and urgent care centres in Crumlin, Temple Street, Tallaght and Connolly.
He said exhibitors include scores of individuals with their collections, the South Dublin Model Railway Club, the Wexford Model Railway Club, who have large layouts, Lego displays, a Star Wars trader from the UK, and other traders from Scotland.
There is an annual diecast model show in Tullamore, where Alan met Jarlath Ennis, the main organiser, and this is the first time in Mullingar, and Alan nominated the Children’s Health Foundation as this year’s charity beneficiary.
Entry is €10 (U12s free) and proceeds after costs go to the charity. Alan is grateful for the support of Josephine Hughes and Matt O’Connor at the Mullingar Park Hotel and Buckley’s SuperValu.
Exhibits include train layouts, trucks, farm displays, Lego, Hot Wheels, radio control models, dolls houses and more, and the organisers plan to have some real trucks outside the hotel, and there is a chance there will be models of those on display inside.
“Bring the kids, bring your friends, and support a great cause while exploring a treasure trove of nostalgia and fun,” said Alan.
Doors open at 11am.
