Huge entries for Scór na bPáistí
A successful Scór na bPáistí final was held on Wednesday April 9 last in The Downs GAA; credit is due to everyone who participated and represented their schools so well and congratulations are extended to all the medal winners.
Scór na bPáistí has been running in the county since 2012. The competitions follow the same structure and format of the GAA Scór na nÓg and Scór Sinsir competitions, except participants represent their schools, rather than their GAA clubs. This year we had the highest level of participation in Scór na bPáistí to date as 29 schools entered and 17 schools reached the final.
Four first rounds were held in Loughegar, Streamstown, Gaelscoil an Choillín and Gainstown, and the semi-finals were hosted by Gaelscoil an Mhuilinn and Coole/ Ballycomoyle GAA.
In the first rounds there were nine Figure Dancing teams, 44 Solo Singers, 33 Recitations, 33 Ballad Groups, 28 Music Groups, 11 Novelty Acts, 10 Set Dancing Teams and more than 40 Quiz Teams. It is a level of participation that reflects positive engagement of so many schools with the Scór na bPáistí competitions.
The standard in the final, was exceptionally high in all competitions and gold and silver medals were presented to the acts that finished first and second in each category.
