Joe Reilly calls it a day after 38 years
After a career spanning nearly four decades, one of Mullingar"s most popular health officials retired from office on Friday last, January 30.Joe Reilly, Sector Manager of Day Services at Mullingar Resource Centre, Delvin Road, Mullingar, was fêted by his colleagues and the attendees at the Mullingar facility, which is a day resource centre catering for 85 service-users.On Friday afternoon, everyone involved with the resource centred gathered for dinner and refreshments, accompanied by some rousing accordion music and singing by Coralstown musician, Paul Griffin.Breda Delamere, who now serves as Acting Sector Manager of Day Services, joined with other staff members in thanking Joe for his many years of service.Joe, who started off as a psychiatric nurse at St. Loman"s Hospital, 38 years ago, is a native of Patrick Street, Mullingar.On Friday afternoon, both he and his wife Mary were presented with farewell presents by the staff and attendees, and earlier that morning, he received another gift from the Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary.
