Men in Westmeath earning €160 more than women

The average man in Westmeath earned €160 more a week than the average woman in 2023. According to the Earnings Analysis 2023 report from the Central Statistics Office (CSO), the median weekly salary for men here was €760, and for women €602. The median for both was €682, just short of the national average of €699.

Earners had 4.2% more money in their pockets last year, though that was a smaller increase compared to the 6.3% from 2021 to 2022.

Westmeath is 10th in Ireland for salaries, ahead of Kildare, Waterford, and Sligo. Dublin is first at a median weekly salary of €794, followed by Meath (€743) and Wicklow (€730). Donegal has the lowest median salary at €567, ahead of Kerry (€604) and Monaghan (€608) .

The highest-paying sector was ‘information and communication’,at average weekly earnings of €1,356 compared to average earnings of €364 in accommodation and food service roles.
