Mullingar Rugby Club girls shine at Croke Park
Last Saturday was a day to remember for Mullingar Rugby Club, as 110 players, coaches, and supporters travelled to Dublin to witness an unforgettable event. The club’s under-10 and under-14 girls made the journey to support their under-12 teammates, who had the honor of playing during halftime at the Leinster versus Munster game, held in front of a record-breaking crowd at Croke Park.
The girls faced Mullingar rivals Barn Hall, with many players experiencing the joy of scoring tries in the iconic stadium. This incredible opportunity was not only about the game but also about creating lifelong memories, both on and off the field.
The day was filled with excitement, camaraderie, and plenty of cheering from the stands as proud parents and coaches watched their young stars. The group enjoyed pizzas and a trip to Supermac's afterward, capping off an unforgettable adventure.

Mullingar RFC edged out by Dundalk
Mullingar Rugby Club had an action-packed weekend of rugby at home, with both the Firsts and Seconds battling it out in two thrilling matches against Dundalk. Mullingar Seconds were narrowly defeated 29-33. Matt Bruton, Shane Cunningham and Cormac Oakes gave standout performances in a hard-fought contest.
The First team followed up with a 31-24 win, displaying great teamwork and determination. Luke Finegan, Matias Pfaff and Daryl Quinn played key roles in securing the victory. Both teams showcased exceptional skill and sportsmanship in what was a fantastic day for the club.
U11 boys shine at Tullamore Blitz
The Mullingar RFC U11 boys travelled to Tullamore on Sunday morning for the second blitz of the season, bringing two full squads ready for action. They competed against teams from Tullamore, Birr, and Edenderry, impressing everyone with their skills and teamwork. Both Mullingar teams showed remarkable improvement across the park, scoring some brilliant tries throughout the morning. Their offloading game was particularly strong, a testament to the great support each player gave to their teammates. As their skills continue to develop, the excitement for the rest of the season is building. The team is already looking forward to the upcoming blitzes, where even more progress is expected. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic season for the U11 squad.
U14 girls show promise in Kilkenny clash
Mullingar RFC’s U14 girls took on Kilkenny in their second game of the season, demonstrating great progress as they continue to develop. The team delivered some fine tries and showed real determination throughout the match.
Although better results are sure to come, the girls are starting to showcase their potential with strong teamwork and spirit on display. Both the Blues and Reds teams will be back in action next Saturday, facing off against Longford and Wexford. Exciting times lie ahead for this promising squad.
