Five men arrested after gardaí discover firearm, ammunition and drugs

Five men have been arrested after gardaí discovered a firearm, ammunition and drugs at premises in Dublin.

During the search of the residential premises in Saggart, gardaí from the District Drugs Unit in Ballyfermot recovered a firearm, rounds of ammunition and a small quantity of suspected cannabis and diazepam.

All seized items are subject to forensic and ballistic analysis.

Five men – aged in their teens, 20s and 40s – were arrested on Thursday and are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at Garda stations in west Dublin.

The scene is currently being preserved for technical examination.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
