Hospital still 'working on full delivery of MRI service'
The MRI service at Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar is still only available to inpatients more than three months after it opened.
In a statement issued to the Westmeath Examiner, the hospital said the recruitment process for specialist staff is ongoing and that once this is complete the service will be fully operational.
"Regional Hospital Mullingar are incrementally working towards a full delivery of the MRI service. Currently the service is available to inpatients. The service will extend to Adult Outpatients following the completion of the recruitment for all staff and commencement of the Consultant Radiologist.
"Recruitment is currently progressing and with a target commencement of Outpatients by Q1 2025 on this basis," the hospital said.
