Wayne and Robyn Kelly are

Kelly siblings' bid for glory

Ballynacargy siblings Wayne and Robyn Kelly will box for All-Ireland titles at the Elite Championships this evening in the National Stadium, Dublin.

History will be made as it's the first time the Ballynacargy siblings will contest Elite finals on the same evening.

In the men’s senior decider, it's a case of Westmeath versus Beflast with Wayne Kelly meeting Jon McConnell (Holy Trinity) in the 71kg final.

Robyn Kelly, a two-time European U22 Bronze Medallist, will take on Chloe Gabriel (Dublin Docklands) in the Women’s 54kg category.

It’s a massive honour for the Ballynacargy Boxing Club and lead coach Camillus Kelly, father of Wayne and Robyn, is proud of what they have achieved.

“It’s wonderful for such a small club and we’re all really looking forward to this evening’s finals. It should be great. We want to thanks all who have supported Wayne and Robyn in every way,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mullingar’s Olympic Boxing Club will have two boxers in finals this evening as Patsy Joyce (54kg) and Jason Nevin (63.5kg) bid for glory.

Boxing gets underway at 5pm this evening - Robyn Kelly's final is planned for 6.30pm while Wayne enters the ring at approximately 9pm.
