Safety works needed at 'slippy' Lakepoint entrance - Davitt

Two requests relating to Lakepoint estate in Mullingar were made by Cllr Aoife Davitt at the November meeting of the Municipal District of Mullingar Kinnegad. The Fianna Fáil woman asked that the district complete works at the boundary wall at The Cedars, Lakepoint, to which the district replied that its housing department is investigating requirements at that site.

Cllr Davitt also asked that the district consider safety works to the surface of the entrance of Lakepoint: “It is extremely slippy in winter,” she said. By way of response, the district gave an undertaking to examine the surface to determine if works were required.

At the same meeting, Cllr Davitt asked that the district place a bus stop at the R156 at Newdown, The Downs. She was informed that the district will consult with the Active Travel Department and National Travel Authority to investigate if a bus stop is warranted at that location under their criteria.
